Delivery from Mallorca to Antigua

Rodrigo just needed some help in Palma with the refit of a 106 foot sailing yacht and connected with Richard. It was supposed to be for one week and turned into a delivery of 3 months. The owner asked them to deliver the yacht to Antigua before the start of the caribean charter season. This yacht needed a lot of work before it was ready to cross the Atlantic, but they were both up for the challenge.

We went on our way from Palma to Sotogrande once we arrived there we had to wait a week for a good weather window for heading down to Lanzarote. After leaving Sotogrande we had a little stop in Gibraltar for filling up our fuel tanks before we left to Lanzarote.
After 3,5 days we arrived in puerto Calero Lanzarote. Refilled the watertanks, did our food provisioning and final checks in and around the ship.
At this point we just needed to wait for the tradewinds, wich would bring us across the ocean.

And off we go heading to Antigua…..that was our plan….. After 3 days of sailing we had an unpredicted wind-drop and we had to continue on the engine – the problem started. The hydrolic valve that controls the pitch of the prop broke. We had to repair this.
Due to having enough spair parts on-board, we were able to fix it in no time. Once we replaced the valve, we headed into the marina of Mindelo, Cabo Verde for  a proper checkup off the hydrolic system. We made use of our time here by refueling and topping of the water tanks.

After a few days we were finally under way to Antigua. It was a nice and smooth sailing with some dolphins and a whale around the ship. We also had some successful fishing, catching a nice Mai Mahi and a wahoo.

After 2 weeks since we left Mindelo we arrived in Antigua where we went to Falmouth harbour. Immediately doing a full check of the whole ship and start cleaning, polishing and leave the ship like new for the owner.

Outremer 5X Delivery: from La GrandeMotte (FR) to Bermuda

We headed to La Grande Motte, France to pick up a brand new catamaran from the yard. Rodrigo was already there for a few weeks, managing everything around the boat. When the rest of the team arrived we did started doing some sea trials making sure that everything was fine.

A few days later we were on our way to Denia (Spain) for our first checkup. Along the way we ran into a big sandstorm with rain! The following days cleaning the whole ship, as the sand was everywhere (we still found sand in some places when we arrived in Bermuda). After two days we left Denia and our next stop was Sotogrande (South off Spain). At this point the owner joint the crew on board for the Atlantic crossing.
Afterwards leaving Sotgrande with our first stop being Gibraltar for a refuel and on our way to Madeira.

After 4 days we arrived in the port of Funchal (Madeira)- such an amazing island. Refuel and refill the water tanks again. Bringing some fresh fruits with us (the island is famous for it’s flowers and the big variety of fruits. And off we go .. next stop Saint George (Bermuda ) 2600 NM away. It was a nice and smooth sailing. Loads of dolphins underway and we caught a huge tuna. That day we ate the best sushi of our life, thanks to our cook.

When we finally arrived in Bermuda, we put all efforts on on cleaning the ship and flying back home.

Delivery Mallorca to Ibiza

Delivery Swan 78 ft Malaga to Brindisi

In puerto malaga we picked up a Swan 78ft after a thorough check- up of the vessel, we left the port on our way to Palma (Mallorca). Arriving in Palma we had a appointment with a technician to repair the boom vang that lost some hydraulic oil. After a week staying in the marina we could continue our delivery.

Next stop the island Lipari (Italy). Here we were able to refuel, as we had no wind at all during the first leg of our trip. The following day we were on our way to Brindisi passing the Straight of Messina (between the mainland off Italy  and Sicily). Here we went from having no wind at all to 40 knt in less than half an hour. Similar venturi effect as in the Straight of Gibraltar.

Leaving the Straight of Messina and heading east to Brindisi we had ran into some heavy squalls with thunderstorms and +40 knt of wind from the north. After going around the south east Cape of Italy (Capo de Santa Maria di Lueca) we headed north, up to Brindisi. After arrival in Brindisi we took our time with cleaning the ship and within the following days the team returned home.
